Children's Health Involving Parents (CHIP of Greater Richmond) and Birth and Baby Kneads working together to help women and babies in our community. Volunteer Program
|
Twice a month Birth and Baby Kneads League of Volunteers (LOVs) provides prenatal, new parent education and doula services to women in the CHIP of Greater Richmond program. Our monthly meetings offer support, education, special speakers and preparation for birth and parenting. Our program is one year old and we have provided services to over 40 women and children. The LOV's provide support and education as well as birth and postpartum doula services. Our dedicated team of volunteers are proud to attend birth with our clients and offer support at the onset of labor. Our volunteer doulas stay with mom until baby is born. Each quarter we celebrate our new moms and babes with a social gathering. Last month 13 moms attended our celebration and a great time was had by all.
This program is a true community effort and so many local folks have donated their time, services and expertise to make this possible.
Thank you to:
The Mixing Bowl Bakery for providing delicious cupcakes to our quarterly Celebration of Moms and Babes. Everybody loved them and were so appreciative of your kind donation.
Rachel Pustlenik for giving us her time and sharing her expertise on prenatal and postpartum fitness. Thank you for the strollers that you and the Stroller Stride moms donated. The moms really like strolling and singing songs with you.
Gina Kocheny of Virginia Hypnobirthing for sharing her birth relaxation exercises with us. Gina was such a wonderful speaker and the expecting mommas really liked your workshop. Thank you so much and know that you are always welcome to our group.
Gayle Smith, MD for sharing her knowledge about newborn care and the beginning of life.
Thank you to The Wellness Village at Starling for the Giving Tree project that will launch in November. Thank you to the Wellness Village Practitioners...
And last but certainly not least, the LOV's for making all of this possible. Your dedication and commitment is amazing and we can honestly say we are making a difference in the life of women and babies in our community. You are appreciated by the CHIP staff, administration and the women and children they serve. Without your support, dedication and heartfelt passion for what you do, this would not be possible.
The list of volunteers goes on and on and will be updated regularly. Links to local businesses mentioned will also be provided in the days ahead.
Thanks again to the Richmond community for stepping up to help with this project to help women and babies at birth and the beginning of life. With this effort, we can honestly say we are making the birth and baby world a better place for every sweet, beautiful little baby at a time.

Do you have baby blankets that you just don't use or need?
Birth and Baby Kneads can help!
When you are ready to part with blankets that you no longer use, simply drop them by the BBK office at the Wellness Village. Our LOV (League of Volunteers) Team will use them in the volunteer outreach work that we do in our community. Many of our clients have limited income and can not afford to buy extra blankets. These blankets will be used in our play-group for belly time exercises or home visits so that baby's can be swaddled and kept warm.
Please launder your blankets before delivery. If you choose to leave your name, we would like to personally thank you and let you know how your baby blanket has been used in our community.
Thank you on behalf of the moms and babies in our community. Your gift is always appreciated.
